Wishes on the Water

Asian Water Lantern Festival

NEW DATE: Sunday, August 4, 2024
Chippawa Park Pond
90 First Ave, Welland
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Dusk)

Free to attend, this event is designed to address anti-Asian racism, by creating a safe space, using art to encourage dialogue, compassion and understanding. This quiet and personal reflective event is family-friendly and designed to especially accommodate those with mobility and sensory/auditory concerns.

Due to the forecasted thunderstorms, rain, and extreme heat, it has been decided that the Water Lantern Festival scheduled for August 3, 2024, has been rescheduled to August 4, 2024. This decision was made to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees, volunteers, City of Welland and Festival Staff, as well as to provide the best possible experience for everyone involved.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to celebrating with you on August 4 at Chippawa Park Pond at 7:00 pm, and thank you for your continued support.

Most Sincerely,
Water Lantern Festival Team and Bridges Niagara

Not monitored by the Festival, there are a few spaces in the existing parking lot and curb parking, located near the 90 First Ave Sign. We have made arrangements to have a drop off area near the Rose Garden, at the top of the hill, near the Fitch Street/First Ave intersection. From there, a paved pathway will lead to the event site, about a 1 minute walk. This is a good option for those with mobility concerns.
