By signing this document, the 2025 Cultural Ambassador agrees to the following:

    1. to be responsible for maintaining updated information with the Festival

    2. to arrange, update and cover any costs for their Harmony Nite Guest

    3. to not consume alcohol at any time while being identified as a Cultural Ambassador, regardless of age. This includes the wearing of cultural dress, signage/nametags/sash or tiaras/crowns/headdress that identifies you as an Ambassador.

    4. to inform their Harmony Nite Guest that no alcohol is to be consumed while at the event, regardless of the guest’s age both for the safety of themselves and fellow Ambassadors and their guests and in respect to the cultural sensitivities of those that might be seated with them.

    5. to recognize that as an Ambassador they have been chosen as a public representative for their ethno-cultural club/group and as such they are a leader in the community. The Ambassador’s opinion holds some influence and their conduct will be held to higher standards. Should Ambassadors have questions or comments regarding actions they deem concerning, they will bring them to the Ambassador Co-ordinator or to the Festival Producer’s attention immediately, confident that those representatives will deal with the concerns as quickly as possible and that the Ambassador will have a resolution presented to them.

    6. to conduct themselves at all times in a professional, courteous and respectful manner to the public, Festival Volunteers, Festival Staff, other Ambassadors, representatives of both their Club/Ethno-Cultural Group and others they come in contact with. Contact may happen when they are on duty or not and may be when they are identified by their clothing or not, as the Ambassador they understand that they are representing themselves, their Club and the Festival at all times

    7. though they are not obligated to attend every Festival event and programming, they will do their best to attend all Festival events and programming that they have signed up for, arriving and leaving at the designated times. Should they not be able to make it, they will let the Ambassador Co-ordinator know as soon as possible by email, so that a written record exists and that other arrangements can be made.

    8. to arrange their own transportation to and from activities

    9. if necessary, to arrange appropriate supervision to attend activities and make these arrangements aware to the Festival. (If Ambassador is aged 14, in Grande 8 or younger, Parental/Guardian supervision is requested at all Festival activities.)

    10. to understand that no guests shall join Ambassadors officially while on duty at Festival events-friends, guests, parents/guardians will not be hosted while Ambassadors are attending in an official capacity, though friends, guests, parents/guardians can participate as a general attendee.

    11. to understand that though the Festival has taken measures to ensure their safety and enjoyment, Ambassadors are responsible for their own personal safety. Ambassadors will alert the Ambassador Co-ordinator or Festival Staff immediately of any situations that they do not feel comfortable with or any unsafe practices and mutually work with them to come to an agreeable solution.

    12. to understand that the Niagara Folk Arts Festival/Bridges Niagara will be collecting, using and disclosing personal information for the sole purpose of establishing and managing a volunteer relationship

    13. to consent to the Niagara Folk Arts Festival/Bridges Niagara using the Ambassador’s name, photograph and submitted biography for promotional materials and understand that by you attending events and activities of Niagara Folk Arts Festival/Bridges Niagara you are also giving consent to use your image and name in any further promotional or reporting needs.

    14. to understand that all social media sites are in the public domain, regardless of privacy settings or wants. Ambassadors will be mindful of not placing themselves in any situations that may be regarded as detrimental to the image of the Bridges Niagara, the Niagara Folk Arts Festival or their ethno-cultural club/group, since they cannot control what and where images might end up.

    15. as an Ambassador, I will abide by all items listed in the Code of Conduct at all times. Failure to do so may result in my immediate termination to attend Festival events on behalf of my Club/Ethno-Cultural Group.

    16. to act in a responsible and safe manner at all times and hereby agree to indemnity the Bridges Niagara (Niagara Folk Arts Festival/Bridges Niagara) from any claims or damages caused as a result of their negligence while acting as a volunteer/Ambassador

    17. that you have read and understood the Anti-Racism and Discrimination Policy and agree to abide by it

I will have the following expectations from the Niagara Folk Arts Festival:

    1. The Festival will provide a list of programming and events that Ambassadors will be invited to attend. Some of these events are produced by Festival Club members and not the Festival themselves, so the Festival will do it’s best to accommodate scheduling requests from both parties.

    2. The Festival will outline the activity expectations for each event-formal dress, cultural dress, speaking or performances expected, etc.

    3. Questions or comments raised by Ambassadors in writing to the Ambassador Co-ordinator or the Festival Producer will be addressed in writing in a timely manner. If the matter cannot be resolved by either of these two Festival representatives, it may need to be forwarded to the Bridges Niagara Executive Director/CEO, as determined by the Festival Producer.

    4. The Festival shall do its best to support the personal and cultural sensitivities of all its Volunteers and Ambassadors, working with all groups, parties and individuals to come to mutually agreeable solutions.

    5. The Festival will do its best to maintain standards of safety for all participants and will be available and approachable to any questions or concerns that may arise from an Ambassador and volunteers.

By signing this document I agree to abide by the above Code of Conduct items and expect the Niagara Folk Arts Festival to fulfill the details set out therein as well.
